Ionity, Fastned, Atlante & Electra launch Spark to link 11,000 chargers.

Goodbye to app juggling, payment confusion, and incompatible EV chargers. A new alliance called Spark promises to simplify electric driving across Europe.
Ionity, Fastned, Atlante, and Electra, four major charging networks, have joined forces to connect over 11,000 EV chargers in 25 countries. Their goal: make charging an electric vehicle as easy as filling a gas tank.
For drivers, this means that any of the four apps can unlock any charger in the network. No more scrambling to download new apps, set up accounts, or swipe different cards on the road.
The alliance marks a rare shift from competition to cooperation. For years, Europe's charging infrastructure has been fragmented, making long trips a hassle. Spark’s launch signals a push toward interoperability as the EU accelerates its transition to clean mobility.
Each member brings a unique edge. Ionity offers high-speed chargers co-funded by top automakers. Fastned specializes in solar-powered highway stations. Atlante has deep roots in southern Europe. Electra fills in the urban gaps with fast, city-based chargers. Together, they create a charging ecosystem built for scale and speed.
“We’re not just linking stations, we’re creating a unified experience,” said a Spark spokesperson. “This is the new standard.”
Still, Spark has hurdles ahead. Technical syncing, transparent pricing and pressure from oil companies and tech giants entering the EV space could complicate the rollout. But insiders are optimistic. The alliance reflects a maturing industry learning that collaboration may be the only way to keep up with growing demand.
If it works, Spark could turn one of EV driving’s biggest headaches into one of its biggest selling points.
