A leading US automaker has joined forces with charging network provider ChargePoint to roll out a national network of ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations. The companies plan to install 500 high-powered chargers across the country by the end of 2025.

The stations will offer charging speeds of up to 500 kilowatts, significantly reducing wait times by delivering hundreds of miles of range in a matter of minutes, depending on the vehicle. The initiative is aimed at addressing one of the principal concerns for prospective EV buyers: slow and limited charging options.

Stations will be located along major highways and transport corridors to support long-distance travel and commercial fleet usage. The aim is to provide broad accessibility for a range of EV models.

“This is about removing friction,” said a ChargePoint spokesperson. “When drivers can count on fast, reliable charging anywhere they go, EVs become not just viable but preferable.”

The expansion comes as automakers prepare to release new electric models equipped with fast-charging capabilities. Federal and state-level subsidies for EV infrastructure are also supporting the sector’s rapid growth.

Industry analysts suggest the partnership could reshape the competitive landscape for EV charging, combining advanced hardware with strategic site deployment. It positions both firms to compete more directly with networks operated by other automakers and independent providers.

However, implementation may face delays due to permitting processes, coordination with local utilities, and regional grid capacity. Both companies, however, have expressed confidence in overcoming these issues through scale and investment.

As electric vehicles shift from early adoption to mainstream use, fast and widely available charging is viewed as critical to sustaining momentum. The project could serve as a catalyst for broader infrastructure development across the US EV market.
